Which hash algorithm should I use?▾

Can a hash be reversed to get the original text?▾

No. Cryptographic hash functions are one-way — you cannot recover the input from the hash output. That is their core security property.

Why do different inputs produce different length hashes?▾

Each algorithm produces a fixed-length output regardless of input size: MD5 = 128-bit, SHA-256 = 256-bit, SHA-512 = 512-bit.
