How to Use Correlation Calculator
- 1
Enter X values (first variable) separated by commas or new lines.
- 2
Enter Y values (second variable) with same count as X.
- 3
Click Calculate to get correlation coefficient (r).
- 4
View R², strength, and direction of relationship.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is correlation coefficient?▾
Pearson correlation coefficient (r) measures linear relationship strength between two variables. It ranges from -1 (perfect negative) to +1 (perfect positive), with 0 indicating no linear relationship.
What is R-squared?▾
R² is the square of correlation coefficient. It represents the proportion of variance in Y that is explained by X. For example, R² = 0.64 means 64% of Y variation is explained by X.
Does correlation imply causation?▾
No! Correlation only measures statistical relationship. Strong correlation does not prove one variable causes changes in the other. Other factors, reverse causation, or coincidence could explain the relationship.
