Frequently Asked Questions
What is linear regression?▾
Linear regression finds the best-fit straight line through data points to model relationship between variables. The equation y = bx + a predicts Y from X, where b is slope and a is y-intercept.
How to interpret slope and intercept?▾
Slope (b) shows how much Y changes for each 1-unit increase in X. Intercept (a) is the Y value when X = 0. For example, y = 3x + 10 means Y increases by 3 for each X increase, starting at 10 when X=0.
What makes a good regression model?▾
R² above 0.7 indicates strong fit. Check that residuals are randomly distributed. Model works best for interpolation (within data range), not extrapolation (beyond data). Always visualize data with scatter plot.
